As we move forward with Monsters of the Midwest. I wanted to take the time to introduce some of the contributors that will be joining us at the launch. These folks will put their free time into discussions and opinions about the team they love. Next up is Brian Decker. Let’s see what he has so say about himself quickly!

Hello Bears fans! My name is Brian Decker. I originally grew up in Dubuque County, Iowa, and now reside in Ankeny, Iowa, with my wife and our dog. I’ve followed the Bears my entire life, but really went full-fledged into fandom during the ’05-’06 Super Bowl run. While it has all been downhill for our Bears since then, I am confident better days ahead…consider me the conductor of the morale hype train.Outside of the Bears, my hobbies and interest include Iowa State athletics, video games, drinking beer, and smoking meat on the Traeger.I’m excited to be a part of the Monsters of the Midwest team and help bring you content by the fans for the fans! BEAR DOWN!

Introducing Monsters Of The Midwest

Welcome to Monsters of the Midwest! A new blog and podcast network covering all things Chicago Bears!

With a new regime in Chicago front office taking over and the direction of the Chicago Bears changing forever, I figured it was important to bring in some new voices to share their thoughts on the Bears. Within the Bears media, there seems to be a bit of a doom and gloom tone more often than not. I want to add to the fan voices that are already present within the Bears world and add a more uplifting and positive spin on things. That’s not to say that we won’t have our fair share of criticism on how things are going.

There are all types of voices in the Bears community and it is important that those voices are heard. Not only for a variety of takes and information but there are a ton of smart football-minded people out there that are being left untapped. So, with Monsters of the Midwest, we will be bringing you podcasts, written content, film review, and much much more.

While I know this is a short introduction, I want our voices and contributors to do the heavy lifting on introducing our site to the Bears community. As I have mentioned before on Twitter. If you wish to join us, shoot me a message on Twitter(@MatthiasWRNL) and we can have a discussion! Until then, let’s get this show on the road! Stay tuned for more!

Chicago Bears Sign Larry Ogunjobi

The Chicago Bears have made their first signing in free agency as they sign former Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi.

Ogunjobi is coming off foot surgery but is expected to be ready to participate before the season begins. With the Bears transitioning to a 4-3 defense under new head coach Matt Eberflus, Ogunjobi is will slide into the 3-technique that would fit Chicago’s new defensive scheme. Last season, Ogunjobi had 7 sacks and 16 QB pressures.

According to multiple reporters, the deal is slated to a 3-year deal worth $40.5 million, including $26.3 million guaranteed.
